Non-invasive skin tightening has become a popular way for patients to achieve a firmer facial or body contour without surgery. Options in non-invasive skin tightening include treatments using radiofrequency energy or intense pulsed light (IPL) to stimulate collagen production below the surface of the skin for a firmer, tighter appearance.
Treatment is administered using a handheld device run across the surface of the skin. The heated energy or light permeates the outer skin to work on the deeper layers of the dermis below. There is no damage to outer skin as heat causes collagen changes in the layers underneath.
Non-invasive skin tightening is performed by an esthetician at Daniels Vein and Cosmetic Center. The procedure takes approximately an hour or two to complete, depending on the size of the treatment area. There is minimal discomfort during the procedure and patients are able to return to regular activities immediately after treatment.
Some skin tightening may be seen right away, while full results will take up to six months. Patients usually require multiple treatment sessions, spaced approximately six months apart.
